Course Description + Levels of Groups 

Group Levels: 

Level 1 - Plough Turns 

Learners who can achieve linked snow plough turns, on green to blue runs, looking to develop onto plough parallel turns & start progressing further around the mountain, towards parallel skiing. 

Level 2 - Plough parallel to Basic Parallel Turns  

Learners who can achieve linked plough parallel turns, on blue to red runs, looking to develop onto basic parallel turns & start progressing further around the mountain. 

Level 3 - Parallel Turns to Carving 

Intermediate skiers, who can achieve linked parallel turns, on blue to red runs, looking to develop onto carving turns & start progressing further around the mountain, looking to give steep red & or black runs ago, with some intro off piste or looking to developing off piste. 

Level 4  - Parallel - Carving - Off Piste

Advance skiers, who can achieve linked parallel turns, carving turns & some off piste environments. Looking to gain more confidence & style in all areas of the mountain in different types snow & weather. Give most things ago, want to get the confidence and style improved. 

 

Level 5 - Instructors  

Instructor Levels go from levels 1 -4 check instructor pages to see what the assessment standards are. Training for all levels can be organised privately or in groups with Ski Definition, contact us. Training for Levels 1 & 2 can be done in the UK & Europe and courses are available currently for 2017-18. Levels 3 & 4 require more time, dedication more difficult skill set in teaching, knowledge, communication, mountain & weather awareness, fitness & personal performance. Become seasoned & spend time teaching in the mountains. 

Course Description 

Improver Course- Suitable Levels: 1,2,3,4,5

These courses are to improve your skiing skills performance of all levels of skiers, having multiple groups for all the below levels on each week of the courses. We aim to give more awareness of skills to achieve a more effective and efficient skiing performance, whilst choosing where and what you want to do. The course is designed to give you drills and ideas, which we turn the drills into using the skills correctly within your skiing performance. The drills are chosen for each level of group and will be developed each day, but making sure you are aware why the drills and eventually the skills are being used, and where best for you to apply them into your skiing performance. You can choose if you want to stay on piste or start to give you confidence in the intro / off piste / variable snow, when and where possible. All courses are designed around your wants and needs to improve, always a joint decision.

Intro Off Piste Course- Suitable Levels: 3,4,5

These courses are to improve the off piste performance for those that are just learning or need to develop this area, having multiple groups for all the below levels on each week of the courses. We aim to give more awareness of skills to achieve a more effective and efficient skiing performance, whilst on off piste. You will become aware of how the steering skills are used better, how important posture & balance are to achieving success, with the control of the speed and line that we take. We start on piste, with drills and ideas to enhance your awareness of the input to your performance and then we take you safely where you can put the skills safely into action. We look to build understanding and awareness and show you the import things to look and know when entering the off piste close to the piste.

Family Fun 

These weeks are normally around the February Half Term & Easter Holidays. Group packages can be organised with family and friends. Accommodation, transfer, lift passes, equipment & group lessons. We offer the lessons for all levels of leaners with instruction / guiding offered to meet your requirements. The groups will be split on ability and groups can also be divided by Adults / Kids. The main aim is for everyone to relax, have fun whilst being guided/ taught to improve their skiing skills, safely around the mountain. Meeting for drink stops and lunch breaks is easily organised. The groups will be looked after by the team from 9.30am to 3.30/4pm each day, with start & drop of times, places arranged each day. You let us know what you want to do.

Bespoke Groups 

These groups you can decided who you want in your groups and we will make sure everyone gets the best out of the skiing improvements. You can book as many groups as you want, making sure the skiing ability of each person is ready for the group. We can organise your package for you or you can organise the travel and we will supply the instructors / guides for the week or long weekend. Tell us what you want.

Instructor Prep - Suitable Levels

( Instructors Level 1 - 2 - 3 )

These courses are for Instructors looking to develop their all round performance in skiing, teaching, visual & verbal feedback, awareness of skiing skills. We look at how you use the basic principles of skiing, why you use them, where best to develop these, with the correct drills. We also look how you can teach these skills and ways in which you can deliver the skills through various teaching styles. The training will be the best preparation for all levels of instructor exams. Its essential you inform us of your Level of examination you are looking to prepare for. Plans can be set allowing development in the UK or Europe.

Experienced educators who currently deliver the exams, will be on hand to constantly improve, develop and enhance your instructing ability. With over 15 years of knowledge and experience.  

Instructor Level 1 Exam UK

Level 1 entry level, is a minimum basic parallel skiing standard. You need to be able to maintain a parallel skiing position and control your linked turns from the top of an indoor snow dome or dry ski slope. During the course you will learn the basic principles of skiing, Forces, Movements, Balance & Steering. How these are used in teaching the Core Skier Development progression, from first time skiers to basic parallel turns. You will shown the basic teaching styles to deliver the basic principles and how to keep students Safe with the snow sports code and group management. You will learn the Skier Performance Analysis Model to be able to give feedback on learners needs and development. Skiing performance will be looked at in Short and long turns. 20 Shadowing hours after the course is needed, 2 day First Aid, Online Safe Guarding Children module is also required.

Instructor Level 2 Exam Europe 

The level 2 entry is a minimum standard of holding the current Level 1 qualification completed and holding a valid current licence. The 6 day assessment for the Level 2. During the course you will be assessed on the basic principles of skiing, Forces, Movements, Balance & Steering. How these are used in teaching the Core Skier Development progression, from first time skiers to basic parallel turns, in a mountain environment. You use the basic teaching styles to deliver the basic principles and how to keep students Safe with the snow sports code and group management, in a mountain environment. You will use the Skier Performance Analysis Model to be able to give feedback on learners needs and development, whilst teaching in a mountain environment. Skiing performance will be looked at in Short and Long turns, Bumps & Variable snow conditions in the mountain environment. Your Mountain awareness & weather knowledge will be assessed, with in your leadership skills, all within the mountain environment.

Instructor Level 3 Exams Europe 

There are modules to complete for the Level 3. These can be done in any order, long term development plans can be put in place to work towards this level.
