Level 2 Ski Instructor - Information

The Level 2 Ski Instructor is the second award available in the alpine qualification pathway.
Holders of this award can work in the mountain environment working only for a snow school in an alpine resort, following the rules and regulations of the country that the snow school operates in. Teaching all levels from beginner to basic parallel turns, kids and adults. You will always have the supervision of the snow school in resort and must stay within the piste markings at all times.

Skiing Standard for Level 2 Qualification.
To enter the course, the standard of skiing is the minimum of IASI Level 1 qualified instructor. Some experience of skiing on snow in the mountain environment, is essential. Teaching or coaching experience as much as possible from the indoor or dry ski slopes.The ability to make short turns in a controlled link consistent speed. Long carved turns with 2 clean lines influencing the turn shape. Liked turns in variable snow conditions, controlled linked turns & on small moguls, all on blue pistes . Demonstrate all elements of the progression.
Course Insight for Level 2 Qualification.
You will learn the basics & need to show the basic princeples, in teaching skiing, the understanding of the basic principles in skiing performance, awareness in class management, demonstrations of the basic progression snowplough, plough parallel & basic parallel turns.
You will need to know the FIS (safety code of conduct) and most importantly all safety aspects of teaching kids/ adults in a beginner environment, in mountain resort. Mountain awareness and weather will also be looked at during the course, with Leadership skills also. You will be given plenty of feedback in all areas of your performance, Teaching, Demonstrating, Knowledge, Safety, Personal skiing, during the 6 days. Support will always be on hand, with video feedback during the course. Off snow lectures and discussions will help gain various ideas on how to become a good snow sports instructor to a great new career working in the mountains.

Additional Modules - Completed around the time of the exam and valid when applying for your licence / certificate.
IASI Level 1 Licence: Updated and in place before the course.

Teaching & Skiing experience:
Be as best prepared before the course with as much teaching and skiing experience as possible. 70 Hours Shadowing / Teaching Lessons: Logged Before the Course to IASI.
